YSA is a Brazilian actress and visual artist. Her practice uses portraiture to explore Brazilian identities and their relationships with tradition, popular culture, memory, and the collective imagination.

After more than two decades dedicated to theatre, she expanded her practice into post-photography, finding in technology an extension of her creative process. Through documentary research, ethnographic references, and visual direction, she creates portraits that move between the documentary and the conceptual while maintaining a connection to the photographic tradition.

With black and white as both her signature and the foundation of her dialogue with light and shadow, she reinterprets elements of Brazilian popular culture through human landscapes, offering new perspectives on these worlds while preserving their connection to reality and the contexts from which they emerge.
